A refrigerated trailer, also known as a ‘reefer’ or , is usually a box trailer, but with a refrigeration unit fitted to it, in addition to its body having special insulating properties. However, a curtainsider may also be refrigerated and is referred to as an “insuliner”.
Refrigerated box trailers can be single temperature controlled, when only one temperature is required at any one time. We also have multi-temp refrigerated trailers in the fleet. These coolers have several compartments, making it possible to transport goods with different temperatures together (fruits and vegetables, flowers, pharmaceuticals, etc).Goods can be transported as frozen or as chilled.
They are typically loaded / un-loaded via its rear doors, either at a loading bay or by using a tail-lift at the delivery location. Refrigerated trailers often have temperature recording and monitoring equipment to help manage the temperatures that the cargo is kept at.
In addition to the standard refrigerated trailers, we also rent various refrigerated trailers with extensive specifications such as meat hanging, flower-wide dimensions, single and double decking, etc. The refrigerated trailers are also equipped with a cooling engine from Thermoking or Carrier, mounted on trailers from various trailer manufacturers.
